Clean Cities Biobased Products Outreach/Education
|
 |
The United Soybean Board (USB) has approved four sponsorships in the amount of $5,000 each to support the U.S. Department of Energy Clean Cities coalitions to conduct education and outreach on soy-based products. These activities can reduce America’s dependence on foreign petroleum as well as provide green jobs and environmental benefits.
Federal government agencies are required to purchase biobased products, and many sites are also pursuing biobased procurement programs based on the federal BioPreferred program.
What are Biobased Products: Hundreds of soy biobased products are available today. They range from lubricants to cleaning supplies to insulation and carpet backing. USB offers a product catalog. Profiles of biobased successes and information on government biobased programs are at www.soybiobased.org. |

The Tucson Regional Clean Cities program will use funds allocated from the United Soybean Board to promote the use of soy-based cleaning products in Pima County schools. With assistance provided by Tucson area schools and Maintenance Mart, we will continue to fully educate and demonstrate to staff, students, teachers and parents the importance of using biobased cleaners for our health and to reduce America’s dependence on petroleum. |
